As a professionally trained and certified Behavioral & Mental Health Coach,
I teach my clients the skills necessary to improve their overall well-being through development of emotional intelligence, distress tolerance skills, how to set healthy boundaries, communication, and more. I offer varied types of services catered to each individual wants, needs, and goals — both online or in-person.

 

What is Coaching?

Coaching is not Therapy!

The main difference between therapy and coaching is the focus of the work. Traditional therapy focuses on coping with underlying disorders and making sense of the past in order to achieve mental stability. Coaching aims to help individuals thrive in the present moment, work towards a desired future, and achieve their highest potential in life.

Behavioral health coaching is designed to assess your overall needs and goals, establish specific wellness goals, and provide you with the tools necessary for success. This specific type of coaching helps clients to manage emotions as they arise, challenge negative thinking patterns, improve relationship skills, and reduce unhealthy behaviors. Coaches are also often Experts by Experience, which means that they first-hand experience with mental health challenges and can utilize what they’ve learned through their own experiences in order to help others overcome similar thoughts, feelings, and situations.

Hi, my name is Sofia!

I am a professionally trained Behavioral and Mental Health Coach with nearly 15 years experience working in various sectors of this field. With a post-graduate level education in Psychology and Addictive Disorders, I have a unique understanding of what underlies overall well-being as well as the specific thought patterns and behaviors that have a negative impact on emotional health and wellness.

My aim as a coach is to help clients identify these maladaptive patterns, their triggers, and develop positive coping skills and more adaptive behaviors. Each individual’s focus in coaching is based on what they personally need to change in order to achieve a more emotionally balanced, healthy, and satisfying life — both intra- and interpersonally. This isn’t a one-size-fits-all approach — I work collaboratively with clients based on their individual, inherent strengths in order to best guarantee satisfaction and success in the coaching process itself, and in life.
